[he lets this happen, though he's honestly surprised guzma's leaning on him. archie tenses up for a few seconds like he's expected to he thrown or something, but finally relaxes to loosely hook one arm around guzma's waist, the other gently resting in his hair. he figures guzma doesn't really need words, right now. in this state would they really sink in? there's plenty he can think of to say, but figures it might be best to be left for later.
[Look, he's drunk, emotional, and Archie's one of the only people he feels comfortable being vulnerable with. He just lost one of the others. So when Archie relaxes, snaking that arm around him, and putting his other hand in Guzma's hair, he soothes him. No lashing out, no tossing Archie like a rag doll—well... not tossing him, but...
There's a moment or two that passes after Archie said his quiet response, and Guzma's grip released from Archie's clothes, his arms likewise snaking around the other man as he held him in an embrace. What Guzma does next isn't thought out, it's driven purely by emotional need, and his drunken state has disabled any breaks that would otherwise halt it. Using that hold on Archie, he pulls him towards his bed. Pivoting on his foot to dump the other man on it, while he follows. He's not... aiming to be over Archie or anything, but it certainly looks a little compromising at the moment as he's joining him.
Honestly, he just wants to lay down with him and continue to indulge in that comfort, maybe drunkenly spoon him a little as they commiserate. He doesn't know, he doesn't know what he wants, or if this will even do him any good. His mind is so sloshed, and his emotions are so high, it's like he's on autopilot.]
[this is completely unexpected and unprecedented, so archie yelps lightly but otherwise lets guzma do his thing. he glances a little pleadingly to golisopod's ball, but... there's not much the bug can do here, is there? if guzma wants to spoon, maybe he'll see if he can call the pokémon out to join in later on. maybe he'll let himself out.
archie exhales, then puts his hand back in guzma's hair, mussing it slightly.
he has no idea what to do, other than just let this happen.]
[Archie's placidity is for the best, can't make a fire roar if you don't add fuel, and he's certainly not. With some sloppy manhandling, they are certainly spooning, and Archie's hand in Guzma's hair gets a shaky breath from the drunk. His face burying against Archie's neck and shoulder, arms rightly wrapped around his waist—if Archie thought he might be able to wiggle free from this, well...]
Can't.
[He says that, but there's a certain tired edge to his voice that seems contrary to his words, even if his tone is defiant. Before long, Archie might feel a wetness where Guzma's face is buried.]
Arch—
[He swallows thickly, taking a moment to get the rest of it out. Even in this state, he knows that shit between him and Archie isn't quite as great as it could be. He still values Archie a fuck ton, but their confrontation a month prior in the kitchen, Archie's freak out, and then his own... Archie's words still eat at him sometimes, when he's left alone with his thoughts, which is often enough. He screwed up bad, and he's still so lost on how to right any of it. Holding himself accountable doesn't come naturally, but he's trying to learn.
And now it's just him and Archie out of the trio, and he feels so fucking vulnerable and lost. This is why he tries not to open up to people, tries not to get close, avoids making bonds. Shit gets too real, too complicated, and he feels as fragile as glass.
[for what? he's not sure. maybe just for handling these things so badly. maybe for even showing that he's hurt at all and not just sucking it up. not that he thinks he needs to protect guzma from it or anything, but...
maybe he wants to hide it from himself too. even if nanu told him he doesn't need to and that doing so only actively hurts him.
he does it anyway. without shelly around--]
Rest. I'll stay. We can talk when you've got some sleep. [and sobered up.]
[It doesn't matter what it's for, it gives Guzma some sort of comfort. He doesn't fully understand it, but that's just where he is mentally and emotionally right now. He's also pretty exhausted, who knows when he slept last, and he's been up drinking like a damn fool. Then that whole thing with Sun, and this with Archie? It's certainly exhausted him, and with Archie telling him to rest... well, it's hard to deny that he needs it.]
Y'ain't allowed to leave...
[Whether he means his room, or here is left up in the air. He's tired of losing people either way. But hey, while Guzma's grip doesn't exactly loosen any, his breathing does seem to shift. Becoming slower, deeper, and more relaxed. Seems fucking drunkass is lulling into sleep as he keeps his face buried against Archie. Here he thought it'd be hard to actually fall asleep, and yet the comfort of having someone with him (particularly Archie) made it that much easier to conk out.
If Archie even tries to get out of his grip, it's certainly not easy. He's like a damn vice, and besides, he'd likely wake up. Something he'll do in a couple hours. There's no way he'll be able to stay asleep for too long, his mind too restless, his emotions too raw. He doesn't say anything when he does wake up, the main sign of it is again the change in his breathing and him shifting a little, a small grunt leaving him.]
[It's early in the afternoon when Sun reaches out to Guzma. There is a hesitant feeling along with the connection, but considering Sun wasn't sure who else to go to about this he pushes through.]
Hey Guzma, you got a minute? I think I need you for somethin'. A bit weird I know, but maybe you can help me out.
[Wow Sun has been up for hours by now! And working at that!!]
Jeez, did'ya wake up on the wrong side of the bed or somethin'? Wait- no I guess yer always kinda like this aren't you?
[Sun doesn't use the telepathy stuff much, so he doesn't have much of a filter. Not that the kid has much of one normally anyways.]
But uh, I took a job from the task board. I got... somethin' from it. Maybe you can take it? It just seems like somethin' you'd want. Well. Maybe? Ugh.
[He's staring at a dressed sheep not that Guzma can see, but there certainly is a huge feeling of disgust going on.]
[It's not so much punches as blunt and a bit of a ramble.]
Wait- You just woke up?
[l a z y a s s]
This isn't a prank! I dunno what to do with this thing! It's huge and I don't want it! I got it for doin' the job though so I can't just refuse it. You clearly weren't doin' anything, can you just come to where I'm at?
[So he says, but you can feel the judgement from this small child. This is a kid who wakes up at the crack of dawn though so you know. True to his name I guess.]
Have you ever been to Briarlan before? I'm at a farm- wait, here.
[He sends not only the image of however you get to Briarlan, but the map/directions he had got to get to the job originally.]
It's... [gross and a little too real for sun??] -you'll see. Look, if it turns out you don't want this either I'll... owe you.
[Because he falls asleep when he passes out, and wakes up when he's either awoken by someone, or happens to rise from the grave that is his bed.]
Nah—[But hey, that shit is so useful, thanks kid, saves him a hassle.]—kinda far, huh?
[He's not sure he likes the hesitancy Sun has in telling him what the fuck he has, but whatever. The kid needs help, and he supposes he should do something about that.]
Fine. I'll be there when I get there.
[He doesn't server the connection, but he will be getting his ass ready to head out.]
Ah? Yeah a bit, I hadn't been before and the job sounded easy. I'd keep one of your Pokemon out with you in town though.
[Well, Guzma maybe doesn't have to worry as much as an 11 year old, but the city and the people in town definitely were rough looking. If Guzma thought where Sun lived was bad, be thankful he's not in sky pirate town. There's relief coming through with that agreement to at least come out.]
That sketch, huh? What is with you, kid? You like danger or something?
[If it's a sketchy sorta place, that just means he'll need to get there a bit quicker than he initially thought. Damn, kid what the hell? Either way, Guzma's going to be quick as he can be about this.]
Hang tight, yo.
[Fortunately, Scizor's chill with taxiing Guzma to the teleporter, and to the ranch once they're in the right place. Briarlan isn't exactly a bad place though... well, it is, which is why Guzma kinda digs it, but he's a man on a mission, and so before too long he finds Sun by that ranch. Scizor landing, letting Guzma disembark a few feet from the kid. As he approaches, his eyes drift from him to the...
It's not like I like danger or anything, but I'm not gonna turn away from a job.
[Sun is pretty reckless though. He's choosing to associate with "Mr. Destruction in Human Form" himself, isn't he?
The wait isn't too bad for Sun, just boring mainly. While the city itself is a literal den of sin so to speak, the ranch on the city outskirts is alright. There's not much to see though besides rocky terrain, thorn bushes and sheep. Well there was also the dressed sheep in a small cart next to him (on loan from the farm), but he was decidedly avoiding looking at or thinking too much on that one. En was also accompanying him today, though he was curled up on the ground beside him taking a nap at the moment.
He watches Guzma land, his expression neutral from a far. It's when Guzma gets closer and finally sees just what the hell Sun was talking about that he gives him a flat, hollow look. After watching cute knock off mareep today he wasn't expecting to get a slab of meat almost as big as him in return. He's mortified at it to be honest, but that's what he gets for not asking was a dressed sheep was to begin with.]
It's payment for watching this guys wannabe mareep this mornin'.
[He pointedly looks over to a nearby flock out in the field, then back on the meat in question and then finally back to Guzma.]
[As Sun explains, Guzma looks between Sun and the...body. His eyebrow simultaneously knitted and raised at the same time. What a fucking situation for the kid to be in, but he's pretty sure if they aren't quick this thing is going to spoil, so it won't matter how much he does or doesn't want it.]
So, you watched his Mareep...and then he gave you...that? Fuck I mean, may as well, I'm here ain't I?
[He's just...making sure he's got this right. Either way, as Sun answers he'll be pulling out one of his Pokémon—Golisopod. Gesturing at the dressed sheep, Golisopod gets the hint, and picks it up in his buggy arms, but not before patting Sun on the head with one of his smaller arms. Gotta say hi to the boy!! They don't need the cart, not when Golisopod's better for the job.]
[Sun visibly sighs with relief at Guzma's answer. Apparently dragging Guzma out here was a better option than just politely declining payment or asking for something else. The job was easy and he wouldn't mind doing it again, just next time he'd negotiate something... different. That's what Sun tells himself anyways.]
Thank goodness... I don't know what I was gonna do with it otherwise. But yeah, that's... well that's been my mornin'.
[He gives that carcass one last sidelong glance before his attention gets pulled to Golisopod's appearance. En had also perked up, stretching lazy as he greeted Golisopod with a meow of it's name.]
Hey there big guy! [A greeting to the best bug before turning back to Guzma as to not watch him carry meat.]
Wanna head back to the teleporter then? I can show you the way.
[Guzma shakes his head with disbelief at this...mess. Well, it's not that horrible? But damn, what a wack thing to be dealing with so early in the morning. Ignore that it's the afternoon, time's fake.
At Sun's and En's greeting, Golisopod looks pleased. He really does adore these two, time shenanigans aside!]
Yeah, lets get goin', don't need this spoilin', or it'll just be Golisopod chow.
[Golisopod doesn't see the problem with this?? But whatever, Guzma!
He gestures for Sun to go ahead, and when he presumably does, he and Golisopod follow, but not silently.]
So, kid. Do you often take jobs without knowin' what the reward is gonna be? Seems kinda dumb.
[With the go ahead, Sun does indeed get going. Leading their little group down the road back towards the seedy town. He's casual as he walks, arms behind his head, what with it being a huge relief that Guzma agreed to take this dressed sheep.]
Nah, I knew what the reward was. I just didn't know too, yeah? I figured whatever a 'dressed sheep' was I could just turn around and sell it. Haven't you ever done jobs for the task board before? I don't think I've seen one that don't list the payment.
Yeah I have, but mainly those with the Beastmaster's guild.
[He eyes Sun and shakes his head with a sigh.]
You were that confident about knowin' what something was while... not havin' a clue? You're somethin' else.
[As if Guzma wouldn't do the exact sort of thing. It's not like Guzma's one to ask for clarification on shit if he comes up with his own assumption. These two are parallel idiots, honestly.]
Those are the hunts, right? I've never done any of those, but they're always some of the highest payin' jobs on the board... [They sounded dangerous, but Sun wasn't one to shy away from stuff like that.] Are they hard?
[He laughs though, Guzma wasn't wrong... but.]
Well it's gotta be worth somethin' if it's a reward! That's usually good enough for me. Oh-! Actually-
[Thinking about the task board stuff reminded him of something. Without stopping, he pulls his backpack around front and unzips it to dig in it. It only takes him a moment before he's pulling out what looks to be a toy Meowth covered in frosting with little button eyes.]
[Sun slows his pace a tad only to position himself by Guzma's side instead of leading the way. It wasn't like there was any forks to the road currently so it wasn't like the directions were needed yet.]
It's like some sort of food themed Pokemon toy, duh. They didn't call them that though, it was uh, Monster Mashers?
[He holds the wannabe Meowth up for Guzma to either take or look at closer, he didn't care.]
You get paid for winnin' battles with them! It's kinda weird though. There was all sorts of types, like Pokemon that aren't even here. I wonder if they saw a Pokedex or somethin'.
