[And like the semi-soft shithead he be, he'll be at the beach, around the same area they were at when Archie healed up his team once he was released.
This time it's just him and Scizor, though. The others are still in their balls, but knowing Archie that likely won't remain the case.]

his crobat is the one with him when he meets guzma, though he has all his other pokéballs with him. it flits down, landing near guzma and scizor as archie trots down the stone steps. chitters a hello, says scizor's carapace is very shiny and very red. crobat commends him for having such good self-care, as the last scizor he battled looked a mess.]
no subject
When Guzma notices Crobat, he gives it his usual nod of acknowledgement, before giving Archie a similar greeting. His eyes go to the bottles though, and an eyebrow lifts. Scizor meanwhile looks to Crobat with reserved suspicion, but then politely thanks him for the compliment. Commenting that the way he soared through the air was with impressive grace and agility, particularly for a Crobat of his size. That might be a backhanded compliment.]
Yo—what's that blue shit?
[Guzma focusing on the shit that matters.]
no subject
archie, when he arrives, isn't as bitchy:] Blue Sapphireeeeee! It's grain, bro! [he tosses the bottle over, cracking the wine for himself.] Nice Scizor, eh? How long've you been together?
no subject
Guzma smirks at that, catching the bottle and looking it over before opening it. To Archie's comment and question, he glances to Scizor.]
Damn right he is! Top percentile of Scizor, ain't met one that can compare, probably never will. [To that, Scizor looks to Guzma, standing proud and tall. Clearly proud of himself, and loving the praise.]
—Long time, though. He and the rest of my team have been with me for, shit... over a decade? Golisopod's been with me the longest, he was my first partner.
[He takes a swig of the blue bottled swill, making a little bit of a face as he adjusts to the taste of it, before gesturing at Archie.]
What about you and your team, huh?
no subject
Aye! Even the stupidest trainer's gotta know a Scizor is a hell of a thing to be in synch with! To earn the respect of and train so well! [crobat just huffs. scizor's right and it shrugs the comment off. tells him if he wants a ride up in the sky sometime, crobat's strong enough to carry him. means it, too.] Hmmm... Sharpedo was the first-- got him as a Carvanha when I was a kid, he was caught up in some netting and left behind by his pod. They didn't come back for him, so we just stayed together.
[he cocks his head, looks over at crobat.]
Crobat and Muk I got as a Zubat and Grimer when I was about fifteen. [those are SUSPICIOUSLY TEAM ROCKET themed pokémon and he doesn't say where he got them...] Then Mightyena is the most recent member! Caught 'im as a Poochyena when I was travellin' in Hoenn proper. Not long after I started Team Aqua.
no subject
[It's all he says before he starts nursing that bottle as Archie talks, and maybe if Guzma was more familiar with Team Rocket, he'd have picked up on the suspicious theme, but his own grunts had their own Grimer and Zubat—of course they also had Salandit. But look, poison types were just part of the evil team starter pack, ok?
Anyway, back to the more important conversation, the one that has Scizor eyeing up Crobat, as if sizing him up on whether or not he's actually up to the task of carrying his heavy metal ass into the air. Him and the bat are the same height, and he knows well that Crobat aren't weak by any means... but Scizor don't trust like that. Silently he turns to look back at their trainers, before offering perhaps someday.]
Fifteen, huh? And you're what now—fifty? Damn, that Sharpedo must be ancient, does the dude got dentures?
[Guzma shoots him a smug smile at that, eyebrow quirked as he takes another fat drink of booze.]
no subject
crobat grunts, once again, a little weird like his trainer. he doesn't want the conversation to die, so he offers if scizor wants anything to eat? he can go grab like a fish or six gulls in a couple seconds. maybe they can go hunt together!]
Thirty four, asshole. I was thirty two when I ported in. [almost thirty five, though. he grunts.] Sharpedo ain't that old, and they got a long-ass lifespan anyway. Fucker'll probably outlive me.
[and... technically has, a couple times! neither of them think about it. also, pokémon live forever. thanks. that stoutland didn't happen. thanks.]
no subject
[Asshole]
...Tch, I know Golisopod'll outlive me, dunno if he knows that.
[A dark thought, but Guzma seems fit to wash it down with another fat drink.
But hey man, Guzma gets it. He is competitive and arguably on that same sort of level, even if he's holding himself back in ways he's unaware of. But the rush of a good battle, the adrenaline of it, and the feel of victory... ain't nothing like it. But, unlike Archie, battling is a double-edged sword for Guzma, it brings him as much joy as it does misery, yet he can't seem to stop.
Guzma follows Archie's gaze to the two Pokémon, before looking back to Archie with an appraising stare. Meanwhile, Scizor looks to Crobat, who he didn't quite peg for being a chatterbox, but it seems the bat is as chatty as he is large. With a pincer brought to his chin as he considers the question, he then shrugs. He supposes he could go for something. Either, he's not a picky bug, and anything he won't eat, Pinsir or Golisopod probably will.
Wait, no. Definitely will.]
Hey.
[Finally Guzma speaks up again, tilting his head slightly.]
What's Hoenn like, hm? Never been outside of Alola--well, till I came here, obviously.
no subject
crobat chitters happily. takes off immediately, calling out to scizor that the first one to catch a fish is the winner. the fish is the prize!
archie looks back while in the middle of taking a long drink from the wine bottle, looks a little surprised.] Tropical, humid. Probably not unlike Alola in terms of the weather.
[he looks back out to the sea, clearly contemplating something as the waves crash and the gulls screech. can't be anything important; he doesn't mention it.]
Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon formed it-- you can really tell. There's a huge volcano, likely where Groudon is resting that takes up a chunk of the North-Western part of the region. Still active. Went down there when I was trying to imbue a meteorite with power. Pretty sure I saw one of the grunts take a piss into the lava... [he makes a face.] Anyway, there's a desert and mini-rainforest to the West of the volcano, multiple seaside towns, half the region is out in the water. Several areas have been pounded by meteors in the past, too. Bigger ones than the one I had.
[he takes another long swig then leans back slightly. puts the wine onto the sand to make a motion with his hands; pressing the tips of his fingers together like a dome.]
Mauville is the sort of tech spreadin' out. It's an entire city inside a buildin'-- like people are tryin' to seal themselves up. [...] I miss the region, and the Pokémon. As sour as the relationship I had with it became. The people of the region can all fuck off underground, if they want. Let the Pokémon retake it. Fucking Devon. Fucking League. Fucking Steven.
no subject
Scizor, whom has no interest in the two humans' conversation, dashes off to the water. Of course he's not about to dive into it or anything, not when he's heavy and dense as he is! But, he knows there's little pockets that fish like to hang around, even close to the beach. It's there he's searching.]
Y'ain't wrong. Alola's a tropical, humid hellscape at the worst of times.
[Not that having such easy access to the ocean didn't make that tolerable, but damn did the humidity get to you sometimes. Especially if you wore primarily black sweat-clothes like somebody. After that addition, though, Guzma stays quiet, drinking off his bottle as he listened to Archie, his own gaze falling to the ocean as well. Of course, he gives Scizor a glance... but then goes back to enjoying the scenery.
It's weird, hearing Archie talk about his home, while looking out over the ocean is making him feel oddly homesick. It's a feeling he brushes off, because while he certainly wants to go back to Alola—it's not Alola he wants to return to. Or so he tells himself, anyway.]
Mmm, y'know, it ain't soundin' much different than Alola, kinda. 'Sides the fact all of the region is in water. But pissing in lava, now that's fuckin' something. Dude got balls, I can say that much, yo.
Or maybe he did, that heat ain't no fuckin' joke, man.
[He's swigging off that bottle as Archie explains Mauville, and it sounds so wild. A little hard to imagine, but then again... Aether is on an artificial island, so...]
Hey man, I feel you. I—shit, I dunno. Alola's my home, and it's fuckin' shit, but it don't gotta be. It's the people, and those stupid traditions. Fuckin' Kukui—
[He hisses out his name, but cuts himself short.]
You can miss home, but not miss the family, is what I'm sayin'.
1/2
[how else do you explain archie being able to do what he did right in the caldera without anything or anyone melting? anime shit, man.]
...Weren't you Ported in in a track suit?
no subject
I miss 'em both. I've been stuck in this shithole long enough I'd start to miss my most hated enemy... [not that he really has one anymore. he shakes his head.] You said you had a Team, didn't you? Gotta be boss of somethin', right?
no subject
..Look, I can handle the heat most the time just fine, but sometimes it gets too humid, alright?!
[God, Archie!! But it's fine, because that tonal shift in the convo pulls him back in, and he shrugs, his gaze going back to the ocean.]
Yeah, Team Skull. Uh, I know I told you a li'l about 'em before when we got high... But, we weren't trying to kill everyone or nothing like that.
[Team Skull wasn't, and technically Guzma wasn't either. Not exactly, but Aether on the other hand...]
We fuck shit up and oppose the island trials, the Kahunas, the captains--for all the rotten Mudsdale shit that they are. Ruining all their feel-good crap that's nothing but dusty-ass nonsense.
no subject
anyway:] Mmm. Bet they hate that, huh?
[he vaguely remembers what he was told while they smoked up. how they were treated as failures. it makes him angry again and he huffs irritably, gripping the neck of his bottle a little tighter. archie's quiet for a long few moments.]
...I miss my Team.
no subject
He nods to that question.]
Yeah, couldn't stand my team making a mess of their perfect islands and perfect little society. When all we were really doin' was making 'em all realize just how ugly it's always been.
[The irritable huff catches Guzma's attention as he takes a swig of his own drink—the damn bottle a good half of the way gone by now. He lets that silence settle between them. Archie finally being the one to break it, Guzma's gaze hovers on him for a long, thoughtful moment, before shifting back to the waves that continue to break against the sand.]
...Yeah, man.
[What a couple of sad losers they are, sitting on the beach drinking while they miss their little ruffian families... after a few moments, Guzma adds:]
It ain't the same, they aren't who I've known for ages, who I share that kinda bond with... but I'm making it again—Team Skull.
no subject
Tch, no region likes any change. Only one that gets a pass is Kanto, given the, uh. Team there. You know Rockets? Makin' a buck outta mutilating Pokémon. Sick fucks. They deserved all they got from Red and the League. Figures the League took their sweet time to deal with 'em anyway, and their leader ran away besides that.
[he takes another long pull off his drink, getting it to the same level as guzma's. wine's not that strong, though, really...]
Aye, if I had a PokéDollar for every time I wanted to restart Aqua for one reason or another... [it should probably be a worrisome admission, from guzma. archie's glad he trusts him enough to divulge this information knowing his position, but-- well, he understands as well. it's not always about the team goal. sometimes it's just about having the team. certainly, that's his line of thinking. he thinks he knows guzma well enough by now to think that's... maybe partly his.] Got no Trials to shit on this time, though. Can't say it's a bad idea to give the troubled natives here an outlet.
no subject
[But the mention of Kanto just gets a sour look from Guzma. It's not even that he has a personal experience with Kanto, it's just that when he thinks of Kanto... he thinks of Kukui. However, back on the topic of mutilating Pokémon, what Guzma considers mutilating them is perhaps different than Archie, because the whole Slowpoke's tail thing? That's a normal staple in Alola...
Guzma nods, though. Not surprised that Archie would feel that same pull to start his team again. He's honestly surprised he hasn't, because clearly Guzma wasn't able to resist it himself. That point, though, stops Guzma right as he's about to take another swig. He pauses, looking at Archie for a moment, before lowering his drink, letting his eyes slip closed with a little bit of an irritated, yet contemplative expression on his face.
He then shrugs, before peering at Archie again, that scowl still present.]
Yeah? Ain't like there's no parallels. Every society's got their rejects and outcasts. My stake in this might not be as personal as it is back home, but that don't mean I can't give a shit.
